About the position

The Chemical Application Engineer at Parker Hannifin Corporation will provide technical and application engineering support for the Elastomer Process Materials (EPM) division, focusing on products such as adhesives, coatings, and specialty materials. This role involves direct engagement with customers to troubleshoot application issues, conduct trials, and optimize processes, requiring both on-site visits and remote communication. The engineer will also perform laboratory evaluations and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and application engineering support for EPM product lines to global customers.
  • Travel to customer locations for troubleshooting, conducting trials, and providing product training.
  • Perform hands-on technical laboratory support on multiple Laboratory Service Requests (LSR).
  • Use standard procedures and application equipment to complete laboratory evaluations.
  • Establish and complete test matrices; operate lab and application equipment.
  • Analyze data and report findings via laboratory reports, providing recommendations to customers.
  • Develop working relationships with equipment suppliers and assist in equipment qualification.
  • Adapt experimental procedures and suggest modifications regarding formulations and methods.
  • Engage with customers, distributors, and commercial teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, both domestically and globally.
  • Hands-on experience in a chemical laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency in using standard and specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately record data and report findings.
  • Skilled in Microsoft software packages (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in elastomer bonding of automotive and industrial parts.
  • Familiarity with metal preparation, rubber processing, and adhesive/coating application.
  • Knowledge of automotive OE test specifications and ASTM/SAE test protocols.
  • Understanding of formulation skills and rheology.
  • Experience with statistical methods and experimental design programs.
