About the position

Tetra Tech is seeking a Chemical Engineer / Project Manager to provide project management and technical support for environmental characterization and remediation projects, primarily related to PFAS. This role involves planning, executing, and managing complex projects while collaborating with experienced professionals and mentoring junior staff. The position is based in Austin, Texas or Jacksonville, Florida, and requires a strong understanding of environmental media sampling and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and manage complex environmental projects and field programs.
  • Evaluate chemical distribution and transport through various media to draw technical conclusions.
  • Conduct and supervise pilot tests, treatability studies, and engineering designs.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and deliverables.
  • Mentor junior professionals and collaborate with experienced team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in environmental restoration consulting.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desired; PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Fundamental understanding of sampling environmental media (groundwater, soil, etc.).
  • Experience with CERCLA and PFAS investigation and treatment projects.
  • Ability to interpret and develop technical documents and data presentations.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license in good standing.

Nice-to-haves

  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is preferred.
  • Other OSHA training is desirable.
  • Knowledge of PFAS treatment technologies.
