About the position

A Chemical Engineer Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic will be assigned to special projects and will assist other engineers on major projects and process engineering. The focus of these projects will be on improving facility efficiency and final product quality. The position may be located in Central Florida, Louisiana, and/or New Mexico, specifically at the New Wales Manufacturing Facility in Mulberry, FL. This is a full-time Co-Op/Internship role, requiring 36-40 hours of work per week on-site, with a term running from May 12 to August 22, 2025. Housing and relocation assistance can be provided for qualified candidates. Day-to-day work assignments may include fieldwork such as data analysis, report writing, and database maintenance. Projects will be assigned by the supervisor and could involve troubleshooting to identify root causes of problems, conducting mass and energy balances for various chemical processes, developing process flow diagrams for new opportunities, sizing pumps and equipment, and computer modeling. The intern will also assist with equipment inspections as required and will communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers of various disciplines, lab personnel, and contractors. Participation in department meetings and project-specific meetings is expected, along with adherence to Mosaic's mission, guiding principles, and key competencies.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Sophomore level or higher pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Completed Material and Energy Balances or Thermodynamics class prior to internship/co-op.
  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or relevant work experience.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement processes, procedures, or software.
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization and external customers, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
