About the position

Crane Currency is offering a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience within our Research and Development (R&D) Department located in Alpharetta, GA. This internship or co-op position is set to commence in May 2025 and will continue through December 2025. As a premier industrial technology company, Crane Currency specializes in currency manufacturing and advanced micro-optics technology, providing innovative solutions that our customers have relied on for generations. Over the past three years, our internship and co-op program has successfully welcomed over 100 students, providing them with valuable industry experience and professional development opportunities. The Early Career Professionals Program at Crane Currency is designed to ensure that interns and co-op students are compensated for their work, allowing them to focus on their professional growth without the need for a part-time job. Participants will engage in real-life business needs, applying their education to tangible projects that enhance their resumes. Each intern will receive career path insights from their managers, who are committed to helping them explore various avenues related to their degrees. Additionally, the program emphasizes personal development, enabling students to enhance their skills and prepare for future opportunities. Interns will have the chance to make a significant impact by developing analytical test methods to assess products, supporting research on new concepts, and participating in continuous improvement projects. Responsibilities will also include assisting with lab experiments, compiling data, and generating reports, all of which contribute to the overall success of the R&D team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical test methods to assess products.
  • Support and research new concepts and continuous improvement projects, including idea generation through implementation.
  • Assist with lab experiments, compile data, and generate reports.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited institution, pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science.
  • Two to three years of college coursework completed.
  • Exposure or experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., JMP, Minitab).
  • Strong analytical ability coupled with demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with instrumental analysis techniques such as FTIR, UV-Vis, Microscopy, NMR, or others.
  • Laboratory experience in synthetic and/or analytical methods (this could be fulfilled with coursework or undergraduate research).
