About the position

The Chemical Engineer Co-Op at Toyoda Gosei Fluid Systems (TGFS) is a role designed for students pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering. This position focuses on providing product development and testing support within the company's laboratory while collaborating closely with the Research and Development (R&D) team. The role emphasizes the importance of safety, quality, and adherence to company standards, offering on-the-job training to enhance skills in project management, technical writing, and quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate behaviors that support TGFS' mission, vision, and core values.
  • Ensure safety and quality are at or above company standards.
  • Work closely with PPP, Engineering, Extrusion, and Production on the development of new constructions/trials and engineering changes to existing mass production parts.
  • Support adherence to TG policies and procedures.
  • Ensure training requirements are met on time.
  • Follow Stop, Call, Wait (SCW) protocol.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Understanding of quality systems and processes within the department to ensure company and customer standards are met.
  • Ability to review assembly and tube drawings, including specification call-outs and required testing.
  • Developing project management skills.
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiment and its application within a production setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team members and external parties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to develop technical writing skills.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven individual with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Active pursuit of a Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Active goal setting and review throughout each semester.
  • Ability to receive and implement constructive criticism.
