About the position

The Chemical Engineer (HPLC) position is focused on the installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and validation of various analytical instrumentation, particularly in chromatography. The role requires a client-focused approach, working closely with other teams and ensuring effective service delivery to customers. The engineer will also be responsible for analyzing technical problems, coordinating solutions, and providing training on equipment operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and validation of Multi Vendor (MVS) CAT II designation instrumentation.
  • Focus on chromatography instruments including Cytiva AKTA FPLC, Agilent & Waters HPLC, and Waters UPLC.
  • Provide backup support for on-site CAT I Engineers for various laboratory equipment.
  • Utilize customer management software to track service calls and manage parts inventories.
  • Review reports and documentation from customers to inspect malfunctioning products and determine the nature of the problem.
  • Analyze findings to recommend repair, replacement, or corrective actions.
  • Coordinate problem resolution with engineering and customer service personnel.
  • Analyze chemistry and instrument reports to diagnose technical or application problems.
  • Serve as a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Develop and conduct training on safe operations of the equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Sciences, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Service Engineer, particularly with analytical instrumentation in chromatography.
  • Hands-on experience with benchtop laboratory instrumentation systems.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to establish good customer rapport.
  • Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear documentation.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Liquid Handlers (Agilent BRAVO) and Cell Counters (Beckman ViCell XR).
  • Familiarity with Thermo Corona CAD and Shimadzu UV-Vis instruments.
