About the position

The Chemical Engineer I role at Honeywell is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are beginning their careers in engineering. This position involves performing routine engineering functions on assigned projects or sub-projects that are of a general nature and limited scope. The role requires the application of standard mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies to support various engineering tasks. As a Chemical Engineer I, you will work under the technical guidance of higher-level technical experts, assisting in the design and project management of both new and existing projects, products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the development of test procedures and conducting routine engineering evaluation tests. This includes performing product and process capability studies, quality audits, and other engineering evaluations. You will prepare evaluation reports, analyze discrepancies, and make recommendations aimed at improving productivity and quality while reducing flowtime. Additionally, you will define and acquire the necessary tooling, gauging, and other equipment to ensure product quality. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will interact with both internal and external stakeholders to help resolve routine design, development, production, and acceptance issues. You will also support evaluations regarding technological advances that can enhance productivity and quality, reduce flowtime, and improve operational surety. When applicable, you will provide peer mentorship and support to your colleagues, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the design and/or project/process management of new and current projects, products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under technical guidance of higher-level technical experts.
  • Assists in the development of test procedures and performance of routine engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work.
  • Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, and makes recommendations for product, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime.
  • Defines and acquires tooling, gauging, and other equipment necessary to manufacture/inspect parts to assure product quality.
  • Interacts with internal and external stakeholders to assist in resolving routine design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
  • Supports evaluation regarding technological advances that improve productivity and quality, reduce flowtime, and enhance operational surety.
  • Provides peer mentorship and support when applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and determined by the needs of the business.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and experience with mathematical computations and computer software applications.
  • Demonstrated established technical methodologies to routine engineering projects.
  • Previous relevant internship experience or equivalent preferred.
