About the position

As a Chemical Engineer Co-op/Intern at LyondellBasell, you will immerse yourself in the engineering field, contributing to projects that enhance plant safety, environmental performance, and profitability. This role is designed for ambitious engineering students who are eager to gain hands-on experience in a global industry leader. You will have the opportunity to work on various engineering disciplines during the spring, summer, and fall terms, allowing you to explore and develop your skills in a collaborative and innovative environment. In the Production Engineer role, you will focus on the day-to-day operation and optimization of existing units, identifying and implementing improvements to enhance plant safety and profitability. As a Process Engineer, you will evaluate and develop major projects, serving as a technical resource for the corporation while maintaining excellent process safety and environmental performance. The Control System Engineer position will have you developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting advanced control schemes, as well as creating and refining process models for predictive control systems. Lastly, as a Research and Development Engineer, you will provide technical support to polyolefin customers and drive innovation by developing new materials and processes. Responsibilities

  • Focus on the day-to-day operation and optimization of an existing unit as a Production Engineer.
  • Identify and implement improvements to plant safety, environmental, and profitability performance.
  • Evaluate and develop major projects and debottlenecks as a Process Engineer.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the corporation.
  • Develop and improve systems to maintain excellent process safety and environmental performance.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot advanced control schemes as a Control System Engineer.
  • Create and refine process models used in predictive control systems.
  • Provide technical support to polyolefin customers through visits and internal or external fabrication trials as a Research and Development Engineer.
  • Drive innovation by developing new materials and processes.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
