About the position

As a Chemical Engineer Co-op/Intern at LyondellBasell, you will immerse yourself in the engineering field, gaining hands-on experience in a global industry leader. The internship offers a range of exciting opportunities across various engineering disciplines during the spring, summer, and fall terms. As a Production Engineer, you will focus on the day-to-day operation and optimization of existing units, identifying and implementing improvements to plant safety, environmental, and profitability performance. As a Process Engineer, you will evaluate and develop major projects, serving as a technical resource for the corporation while developing systems to maintain excellent process safety and environmental performance. If you choose to be a Control System Engineer, you will develop, optimize, and troubleshoot advanced control schemes, creating and refining process models used in predictive control systems. Additionally, as a Research and Development Engineer, you will provide technical support to polyolefin customers through visits and internal or external fabrication trials, driving innovation by developing new materials and processes. This internship not only provides real-world experience in a leading global company but also offers mentorship from experienced professionals and opportunities to contribute to significant projects in a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work on projects that enhance plant safety, environmental performance, and profitability.
  • Optimize day-to-day operations of existing units.
  • Identify and implement improvements to plant performance.
  • Evaluate and develop major projects and debottlenecks as a Process Engineer.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the corporation.
  • Develop and improve systems to maintain excellent process safety and environmental performance.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot advanced control schemes as a Control System Engineer.
  • Create and refine process models used in predictive control systems.
  • Provide technical support to polyolefin customers as a Research and Development Engineer.
  • Drive innovation by developing new materials and processes.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
