About the position

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Cement Trainee to join our team in Evansville, PA. This position is designed for individuals who are looking to start their careers in the cement industry and will participate in a structured training program that provides a comprehensive overview of cement plant operations. As a Cement Trainee, you will have the opportunity to support our operations in achieving production goals by collaborating with experienced engineers and managers across various departments, including safety, environmental, operations, maintenance, and quality control. This role is essential for those who aspire to grow into engineering positions within our organization. During your training, you will engage in production and maintenance meetings, learn basic supervisory skills by working closely with supervisors, and complete assigned project work and performance studies. You will also participate in various training programs and conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve operational issues. Your contributions will be vital in supporting the operations team to enhance plant performance through continuous improvement initiatives. This includes suggesting changes in routines, personnel, equipment, and processes to optimize efficiency and safety. Safety is a top priority at Heidelberg Materials, and as a Cement Trainee, you will be expected to follow all plant and WorkSafeBC Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). You will maintain awareness of plant environmental standards and take corrective actions to address minor problems or report compliance issues to the appropriate department for resolution. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering preferred; mechanical or electrical engineering considered with solid academic achievements.
  • Prior manufacturing exposure or experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations during the training program.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with 24/7 operations.
