About the position

This position in Norco's Technology Department focuses on supporting the development and execution of small capital projects within the Norco Manufacturing Complex. The role involves managing multiple projects, typically ranging from $0.2 to $75 million, and includes responsibilities such as process design development, project scheduling, and stakeholder communication. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure successful project delivery from inception through commissioning and start-up phases.

Responsibilities

  • Develop basic data including flow rates, compositions, and product specifications for front-end project development.
  • Complete front-end deliverables such as economic analysis necessary for project progression.
  • Prepare mark-ups of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Develop the scope of work for engineering firms at various project stage gates.
  • Create initial project schedules and order of magnitude estimates based on equipment count.
  • Manage the integrated technical team to deliver final process design documentation.
  • Ensure the process design team provides necessary data to finalize documentation as per site requirements.
  • Inform customers and stakeholders about project status during the ASSESS phase.
  • Lead and facilitate resolution of key investigations related to process design.
  • Support the Front Development Manager to align key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide process/technical support during commissioning and start-up phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or other engineering disciplines with relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting a chemical or refining manufacturing site with a broad range of unit experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • TA2 in general process engineering is preferred but not required.
