About the position

The Chemical Engineer position within the Materials Science and Engineering Division focuses on advanced measurement science research, particularly in the area of materials science and engineering. The role involves developing X-ray methods to study the chemistry and structure of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photoresists, utilizing various spectroscopy techniques to analyze materials at different processing stages. This position is critical for enhancing the understanding of material properties and their applications in technology.

Responsibilities

  • Developing X-ray methods to study the chemistry and structure of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photoresists at different stages of processing.
  • Performing soft X-ray spectroscopy and reflectivity, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy.
  • Recording and interpreting measurement results.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must be suitable for Federal employment.
  • A degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent education and experience is required.
  • 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level, or a Master's degree, or a combination of graduate education and specialized experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using laboratory- or synchrotron-based X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to characterize extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photoresists.
