About the position

Barge Design Solutions is seeking a talented Chemical Engineer to join our dynamic team, dedicated to fostering innovation and excellence in the fields of architecture and engineering. In this role, you will serve as the authority in a specific area of advanced concepts, principles, and methods within chemical engineering. You will be responsible for staying informed about new developments and requirements that affect the organization, allowing you to recommend changes in programs or applications. This position involves working on multiple major projects that feature complex elements, providing support to a technical lead. As a Chemical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading and contributing to major projects in your specialized discipline or market practice area. Your responsibilities will include designing and documenting technical solutions, managing and maintaining project documentation with meticulous attention to detail, and providing technical leadership on projects. You will support the technical lead and project managers as a technical advisor on potential issues, participate in the research and development of solutions to engineering challenges, and review project documents for conformity and quality assurance. Mentoring junior engineers and reviewing their work will also be a key aspect of your role, along with participating in complex technical discussions with clients and stakeholders. Building strong relationships with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and other collaborators will be essential to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and documenting technical solutions for a specific discipline or market practice area.
  • Managing and maintaining project documentation with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Providing technical leadership on projects and supporting the technical lead and project managers as a technical advisor on potential issues.
  • Participating in the research and development of solutions to engineering and other technical challenges.
  • Reviewing project documents for conformity and ensuring quality.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and reviewing their work for quality purposes.
  • Participating in complex technical discussions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and other collaborators.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from an accredited program.
  • 3 to 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Simulations (ChemCAD/ASPEN), Heat and Material Balance (HMB), Physical/Chemical Property Assessment, Process Safety Management (PSM), Equipment Specifications - Data Sheets, Hydraulic Pump Calculations, Air Emission and Waste Generation Estimates, and Safety Relief Device and Vent Piping Calculations.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions.
  • Proactive engagement with new methods and developments affecting the organization.
