About the position

The Chemical Engineer position at Eastman focuses on process improvement within the Methanolysis Process Development group. The role is integral to ensuring safe operations, delivering quality products, and optimizing manufacturing assets. The engineer will work on initiatives that enhance capacity, reduce costs, and improve safety while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating safety leadership by identifying and resolving hazards, partnering with operations to complete PHA-required actions, and participating in Actively Caring Talk (ACT) interactions.
• Supporting manufacturing by providing timely assistance to resolve production processing problems, which may require non-standard hours or shift work.
• Partnering with colleagues as part of cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and business initiatives.
• Providing timely communications to management and project stakeholders regarding project needs, value, priorities, and decisions.
• Serving as division representative for capital projects.
• Developing and implementing process improvement projects to increase capacity, improve process control, reduce costs, improve yield, and enhance safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or higher in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
• 3+ years of direct manufacturing support required
• 5+ years of experience preferred
• Ability to make decisions with limited information
• Familiarity with industrial plant environments and equipment is required
• High level of adaptability
• Self-starter with a focus on results
• Ability to lead and drive challenging projects forward despite uncertainties
• Confident in working within a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders
• Comfortable challenging peers and supervision to develop creative solutions
• Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills
