About the position

The Chemical Engineer position at CDI Corporation involves designing, installing, and maintaining mechanical equipment at the client site in Baton Rouge, LA. The role requires providing engineering expertise and technical assistance to the maintenance supervisor, as well as reviewing and resolving audit and preventive maintenance deficiencies. The engineer will work independently and collaboratively on various projects, ensuring the effective execution of engineering principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Work on different projects such as replacement in kind, painting, and fireproofing as assigned by the manager.
• Review project turnover from expansion projects and help establish and organize equipment files.
• Develop piping isometrics per PM inspection reports for the entire Baton Rouge facility.
• Assist with developing procedures and mechanical integrity audits.
• Issue purchase requisitions and bid packages.
• Evaluate bids and route them for approval.
• Assist with turnarounds and perform special assignments as requested by management.
• Assist Unit Engineers, Supervisors, and Project PICs for ongoing projects.

Requirements

• Bilingual fluency in Mandarin and English.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
• Ability to work collaboratively and address practical issues.
• Experience in gathering and analyzing data.
• Willingness to chase projects and follow up in the field.
• Computer literacy is required.
• Experience in documentation and project handling/execution.
