About the position
The Chemical Intern position at Oatey is designed for college students pursuing a degree in chemistry or chemical engineering. This 12-week summer internship program offers hands-on experience in the Research and Development group, where interns will assist with various projects, gain valuable insights, and develop their skills in a collaborative environment. The program emphasizes mentorship, professional networking, and personal growth, preparing interns for future leadership roles within the company.
Responsibilities
- Assist chemists/chemical engineer/lab manager with the preparation of project records and documentation.
- Participate in product development projects including making and testing lab scale mixes to industry standards.
- Analyze products using Gas Chromatograph, Brookfield Viscometer, TGA/DSC, Texture Analyzer, FTIR etc.
- Benchmark testing of current products vs competitor products.
- Test new raw materials and record data.
- Project work may include testing samples from manufacturing to verify capability.
- Perform administrative and chemical inventory functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an undergraduate chemistry or chemical engineering program with completion of at least four semesters.
- Excellent analysis skills.
- Experience working with Excel and other Microsoft applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated high initiative.
- Chemical lab experience.
