About the position

The Chemical Inventory Specialist at Unity Lab Services, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, plays a crucial role in managing chemical inventories and providing support to researchers. This position involves maintaining a comprehensive chemical database, ensuring safe chemical storage, and delivering excellent customer service to various stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Efficiently maintain the chemical database, including registering, barcoding, entering data, moving, transferring, disposing, and scanning inventory.
  • Coordinate and perform the transport of chemicals and hazardous packages across campus using transport buckets and push carts.
  • Maintain chemical stockrooms by returning chemicals, upholding safe storage practices, and performing safety inspections.
  • Provide customer service and communicate effectively with various levels of the customer's organization through multiple channels.
  • Review, maintain, and build company data reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-4 year college degree preferred, or relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management and organization skills.
  • Digital literacy including Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and internet proficiency.
  • Ability to operate independently and as part of a team to meet customer expectations.
  • Adaptable to changing schedules and proactive in problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
