Responsibilities

  • Adjusts controls to regulate temperature, pressure, feed, and flow of dry and liquid chemicals, and times of prescribed reactions.
  • Monitors gauges, recording instruments, or products to ensure that specified conditions are maintained.
  • Inspects equipment or units to detect leaks and malfunctions, shutting equipment down if necessary.
  • Cleans, assembles, and makes minor repairs to machinery and equipment using hand tools.
  • Draws samples of products at specified stages for analyses by others.
  • Determines particle size, percent solids, or percent moisture as required by product specifications.
  • Retrieves, measures, and adds raw materials to reaction tanks according to product specifications.
  • Manages in-process hopper transfers.
  • Palletizes finished packaged items or packs items in cartons or containers.
  • Operates hand truck or forklift.
  • Observes safety precautions to prevent accidents, fires and explosions.
  • Participates in safety training and programming.
  • Records operational data such as temperatures, pressures, ingredients used, processing times, or test results.
  • Records amounts and lot numbers of raw materials on process manufacturing data records.

Requirements

  • Chemical mixing and blending production experience.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics and English comprehension.
  • Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of safety, health and environmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
