About the position

The Chemical Operator position involves working in a fast-paced pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, primarily responsible for operating and controlling chemical processes. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and good manufacturing practices while ensuring production goals are met. Operators will work 12-hour shifts, including weekends, and will be involved in various operational tasks, including troubleshooting, data entry, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Follows operating procedures, rules, and instructions to work safely.
  • Participates in 5S and SFTI in the Manufacturing department.
  • Assists in troubleshooting automation and operational issues.
  • Enters SAP data real-time on all production processes.
  • Submits work orders and coordinates work with Maintenance.
  • Reports alarms and takes appropriate action.
  • Achieves manufacturing schedule and production goals.
  • Produces accurate manufacturing batch records using electronic and manual data.
  • Ensures manufacturing area and control systems are audit-ready with up-to-date documentation.
  • Cooperates with management and colleagues to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Reports all personal injuries, near misses, and accidents to the supervisor.
  • Understands and performs work activities in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Runs reactors, distillation columns, filters, and molecular sieves.
  • Reads meters and gauges to verify operating conditions.
  • Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate chemical flow.
  • Handles highly hazardous chemicals in various containers.
  • Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls as directed.
  • Takes samples for Quality Control analysis.
  • Adjusts the pH of discharged water as required.
  • Visually inspects equipment for malfunctions or repair needs.
  • Records operations and maintenance actions on production records.
  • Maintains cleanliness in the work area according to the housekeeping schedule.
  • Operates forklift and pallet jack.
  • Assists other functional departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of related experience or training preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
