About the position

Verdant Specialty Solutions is seeking candidates for Operations at our Liberty, Texas, Baze Chemical facility. The Operator will set up and operate production equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. This position will control and adjust equipment settings per operating procedures to meet quality and process safety specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Process chemical products using batch sheet instructions.
  • Monitor gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, or products to ensure that specified conditions are maintained.
  • Measure, weigh and mix chemical ingredients, according to specifications.
  • Track and record process information and production data.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests which may include viscosity, Karl Fisher, GC, pH, glycol, alkalinity and others as requested.
  • Clean and prepare equipment, as required, for maintenance.
  • Draw samples of products at specified stages for analysis.
  • Load and unload material containers such as tank cars, tank trucks, drums and totes.
  • Maintain plant housekeeping in specifically assigned areas and elsewhere as requested.
  • Setup equipment for production by operating valves and pumps, ensuring line-ups are correct without internal or external leaks.
  • Complete equipment log sheets as requested.
  • Operate heavy equipment including a forklift, man lift and crane.
  • Perform routine plant surveillance to report and correct, if possible, any abnormal situations.
  • Complete and maintain all level one required training and certification.
  • Observe all company policies.
  • Observe all safety policies and procedures. Participate in plant safety processes and immediately report any unsafe conditions.
  • Remain current on the requirements of the QMS and ensure that your actions support the Company Quality Policy towards continual improvement.
  • Maintain familiarity with the safe handling, environmental regulations, and emergency response for all materials in your area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to operate production equipment and heavy machinery safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Basic understanding of chemical processes and safety protocols.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as a chemical operator or in a similar role.
  • Certification in forklift operation or other heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and equipment.
