About the position

The Chemical Plant Shift Supervisor at PSC Group is responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 15-20 employees at a petrochemical plant. This role emphasizes servant leadership, focusing on motivating, developing, and teaching employees to prioritize safety and performance. The supervisor will engage in various logistics functions, including railcar loading and switching, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and effective training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees have the necessary knowledge, training, tools, and equipment to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training initiatives to model appropriate behavior for field employees.
  • Conduct safety observations in the field to maintain visibility with employees and customers.
  • Manage the training program, audit records, and participate in the employee qualification process to align with best practices.
  • Recognize and reward good performance, participating in recognition events when possible.
  • Provide one-on-one and group coaching to field employees.
  • Review and communicate area procedures for accuracy and necessary changes to leadership.
  • Regularly communicate with PSC Leadership and Technical Advisors regarding daily activities and safety concerns.
  • Manage employee schedules and overtime in accordance with company policies.
  • Track employee attendance, overtime, and vacation requests.
  • Support field employees with performance or attendance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for process-related issues during audits and customer visits.

Requirements

  • Experience in a lead position (e.g., leadman, team leader, foreman, supervisor).
  • Ability to follow OSHA safety standards and maintain a safety-conscious attitude.
  • Must be 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Stable work history with good references from past employers.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industrial experience is a plus but not required.
  • Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures.
