About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer II at Honeywell will leverage their expertise in chemical process engineering to enhance the production of Fluorine products at the Metropolis, IL site. This role involves working under supervision to design, test, and validate products, ensuring that manufacturing processes meet quality, cost, and efficiency standards. The engineer will focus on continuous improvement initiatives, safety, and operational excellence in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support operations in troubleshooting daily process issues as needed
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement process changes/control plans to drive continuous improvement and to improve baseline safety, quality, production, and cost performance
  • Participate in site HSE and Process Safety Management programs, including Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Incident Investigations
  • Identify and monitor Key Process Indicators to sustain optimal plant operations and deliver on production, yield, and cost targets
  • Work closely with other site engineers to develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve OEE
  • Mentor and train operations staff on unit design and intended/optimal operation
  • Utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools to drive process improvements
  • Develop capital project scopes of work and associated process packages to improve or maintain unit operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 1+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in chemical industry with at least 1 year in a production or process engineering role within a PSM regulated chemical manufacturing facility
  • Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Experience with identifying process changes and recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
