About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer IV position at Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) involves providing engineering support for the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The role focuses on developing detailed design packages, offering technical support, and troubleshooting plant systems to ensure the reliability of U.S. nuclear deterrents. The engineer will work closely with an integrated project team and will be responsible for various engineering deliverables, including cost estimates and construction specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develops high quality detailed design packages for engineering procurement and field technical support.
• Prepares conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and statements of work.
• Works as a team member or technical lead for multi-discipline tasks, providing input to System Engineers and plant customers.
• Performs walk-downs in existing plant facilities to generate design documents and provide field support.
• Participates in designs ranging from scope definition to detailed designs, including feasibility studies.
• Tasks include flowsheet development, analyses and calculations, reports/studies, and equipment sizing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 15-20 years in the field, or an MS with 14-18 years' experience.
• Pre-employment Drug Screen required for external applicants.
• DOE Q clearance is necessary.
