About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer (Plating) at Sanmina Corporation will focus on sustaining and improving PCB plating processes to enhance process capability and yield. This role involves hands-on engineering support, process development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing issues and implement new technologies. The engineer will also be responsible for optimizing performance to achieve best-in-class yields in the rapidly evolving PCB industry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on engineering support for process issues and product disposition.
  • Perform DOE and statistical data analysis to investigate major sources of process variation and develop solutions to eliminate or reduce their impact.
  • Identify critical-to-yield process parameters and specifications through process window characterization.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving techniques and develop a culture of strong engineering discipline through the use of advanced quality tools such as FMEAs, DOEs, DMAIC, and SPC.
  • Work effectively with equipment and material suppliers to identify opportunities for process capability and yield improvement through equipment upgrades, new equipment or materials, or new processing technology.
  • Support, augment, and work seamlessly with the Process Engineering team and cross-functional peers.
  • Participate in the development of intellectual property.
  • Interact with line managers within Sanmina and executive management of Sanmina's supply chain partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Physics is required; an MS is preferred.
  • 2+ years of process engineering experience in semiconductor or printed circuit board manufacturing operation.
  • Skilled in the use of statistical data analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, or Minitab.
  • Ability to multitask as the job often requires supporting multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing and dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Experienced in managing projects from start to finish.
  • Strong people skills and ability to manage teams.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a lawful permanent resident due to ITAR facility requirements.
