About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is responsible for providing process optimization and engineering support within the Valdosta, GA Paper Mill. This role focuses on compliance coordination, lean projects, quality assurance, product safety, and analytical support, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring adherence to environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain methods for tracking and reducing operational costs.
  • Coordinate efforts with outside resources to improve operations by utilizing appropriate information.
  • Conduct data analysis projects to inform business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance of pulp, power, paper, and support operations with environmental permits and laws.
  • Consult with engineering on capital planning and project implementation for process modifications or upgrades.
  • Support mill goals for safety and environmental needs.
  • Manage jobs effectively for optimal results at the lowest cost.
  • Identify opportunities to solve issues, reduce costs, and improve planning performance.
  • Manage contractors performing jobs.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, or equivalent education and experience required.
  • 1-4 years' experience in process engineering or production in the Pulp & Paper industry.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Successful completion of drug screen required and authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Pulp & Paper Manufacturing Industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
