The role involves ensuring safety is the top priority in all pourline activities, overseeing Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) activities for the Pourline Department, and supervising the hourly workforce involved in foam production. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring daily foam production, adjusting formulas to maintain product specifications, and managing the line in the absence of the Technical Manager or Pourline Manager. In addition to production oversight, the role includes participation in HR-related activities such as permits, appraisals, and disciplinary actions. The successful candidate will conduct trials to develop new and improved manufacturing processes and foam formulations, provide analytical expertise for process improvements, troubleshoot equipment problems, and direct continuous improvement efforts and training. Inventory control and ordering of chemicals and raw materials are also key responsibilities, along with ensuring quality system integrity and compliance with IATF16949 standards. The position requires familiarity with control documents and the ability to stop production to correct quality issues, as well as awareness of environmental impacts related to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that safety is the number one priority in all pourline activities and that all safety procedures are followed by all members of the pourline team.
  • Oversee EH&S activities for the Pourline Department.
  • Monitor daily foam production and supervise the pour line hourly workforce as part of the training process.
  • Adjust formulas as needed to maintain product within specifications.
  • Manage the line in the absence of the Technical Manager or Pourline Manager.
  • Run the foam line and direct other hourly employees for successful foam production.
  • Participate in all pour line HR related activities such as permits, appraisals, and disciplinary activities.
  • Conduct trials to develop new and improved manufacturing processes and foam formulations.
  • Provide analytical expertise for process improvements such as use of SPC/SQC.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and solve process issues.
  • Direct and facilitate continuous improvement efforts and trainings.
  • Oversee inventory control and ordering of chemicals/raw materials.
  • Handle all pour line functions in SAP.
  • Communicate with involved personnel of all quality system changes and ensure quality system integrity.
  • Familiarize with IATF16949 standard and regularly review procedures and work instructions.
  • Revisit control documents such as Process Flows, checklists, FMEA and Control Plans, Job Hazard Analysis, and SOP's.
  • Encourage personnel to meet customer requirements as required by applicable SOP's.
  • Stop shipment and production to correct quality problems.
  • Be aware of the environmental aspects and impacts as a participant of this role.
  • Report any inconsistency or nonconformance on the product and participate in the corrective/preventive actions process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Strong Supervisory Background.
  • Task-oriented individual able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP system is a definite plus.
  • SPC/SQC and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) experience.
  • Experience working with PLCs and HMI or other controls equipment for production control is a plus.
  • Successful candidate will be expected to complete a 40 hr. HAZWOPER training to understand proper procedures for safe handling of hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste.
  • Must possess planning/organization, analytical and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude to facilitate troubleshooting foam making problems.
  • Previous foam production experience is a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Minitab proficiency is a plus.
  • Notable communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-directed and able to lead/facilitate diverse work teams.
