About the position

The Senior Chemical Process Engineer at Grace will oversee process operations at the South Haven Site, which specializes in producing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) for the specialty pharmaceutical industry. This role focuses on ensuring safe, predictable, and efficient manufacturing processes while adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The engineer will lead project teams, develop training materials, and collaborate with various departments to enhance operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure process operations perform safely and consistently in compliance with safety, environmental, cGMP, and economic standards.
  • Lead project teams in the development and introduction of new processes.
  • Develop and provide training on process operating documents for production and small scale manufacturing.
  • Actively participate in safety-related activities and drive safety improvements.
  • Support daily manufacturing processes and provide engineering expertise as a member of the area process team.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to track and support processes and operations.
  • Identify and drive improvement opportunities associated with equipment in the area.
  • Provide oversight to maintenance and operations that support the area.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex equipment and operational problems.
  • Implement corrective actions arising from CAPAs and support process deviations and root cause analysis.
  • Complete change management for modifications to manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Respond to and implement customer requests related to equipment and operations.
  • Develop and support qualification of manufacturing processes for drug products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in a relevant field
  • Batch manufacturing experience in a cGMP environment is highly desired
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently in all aspects of process engineering
  • Experience in a manufacturing or process development environment
  • Batch control and process simulation experience.
