About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer at Chemours will play a crucial role in providing technical support to TiO2 manufacturing operations at the DeLisle Plant. This position focuses on maintaining production performance, restoring process capability, and implementing improvements in collaboration with various teams. The engineer will be responsible for optimizing processes, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and leading initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and environmental impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the day-to-day operation of the plant, including process monitoring and optimization, data analysis, and troubleshooting process and equipment issues.
  • Provide technical expertise for project design work to ensure compliance with specifications and engineering standards.
  • Design and supervise plant tests to optimize processes and implement new products.
  • Provide process engineering expertise on unit operations such as reactors, heat and mass transfer, and gas-solids separation.
  • Develop and implement improvements to enhance safety, quality, cost of manufacture, and environmental impact.
  • Guide Operations on safe operating limits for process equipment and lead Process Hazard Analysis review sessions.
  • Provide internal technical product support for different product offerings.
  • Lead site improvements from definition and research of opportunities to implementation.
  • Update, review, and approve process technology documents to meet PSM and Corporate standards.
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for product quality upsets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve problems.
  • Capability to lead and work in diverse cross-functional teams with high initiative and self-motivation.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced working environment with complex and time-sensitive projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computational and statistical data analysis skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing setting (including co-op/internship experience).
  • Working knowledge of data analytics and statistics using tools like 6-Sigma, Design of Experiments, Minitab, and Power BI.
  • Experience with statistical process control for quality management and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Familiarity with process engineering modeling tools (Aspen, Fathom, etc.).
