About the position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Chemical Process Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN at the Y-12 National Security Complex. This role involves providing Chemical Process/Design Engineering support, which includes participation in designs ranging from scope definition, feasibility and conceptual studies, and preliminary/detailed designs. The successful candidate will engage in flowsheet development, which encompasses block diagrams, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs, as well as conducting analyses and calculations, preparing reports/studies, and supporting safety basis documentation and evaluations. Additionally, responsibilities include equipment sizing and arrangements, cost estimates, procurement document preparation, and testing support. The Chemical Process Engineer will be responsible for developing high-quality detailed design packages and providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs. This role also requires expertise in troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems. The design work involves preparing conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and title II engineering deliverables, which include calculations, analyses, construction specifications & drawings, and equipment specifications. The candidate must effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task, routinely providing input to System Engineers and other plant customers. Furthermore, the role includes performing walk-downs in existing plant facilities to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum BS Chemical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years technical experience.
