About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer will provide technical service and support to catalyst customers, working closely with sales personnel to enhance catalyst and plant performance. This role involves maintaining technical expertise in catalyst products, assisting in the development of tailored design proposals, and troubleshooting technical issues at customer facilities. The position offers opportunities for travel and collaboration with various teams to optimize catalyst operations and improve customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Travel jointly with the Sales Account Manager to provide technical proposals and investigate specific technical issues.
  • Provide technical support to customers both remotely and on-site, assisting with catalyst loading supervision, pre-treatments, plant start-up, troubleshooting, optimization, and unloading.
  • Evaluate plant operating data using proprietary software tools and provide recommendations to improve catalyst operations.
  • Provide emergency troubleshooting support for customer's catalyst units as needed.
  • Prepare new plant designs and catalyst recommendations using Clariant's design guidelines and software tools.
  • Develop novel technical engineering programs and technical service offerings.
  • Provide training presentations and procedure reviews to customers.
  • Optimize existing design tools and procedures for more efficient service.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or relevant Technical Degrees.
  • Preferred 2 years experience in plant operation or catalyst technical service in a chemical plant.
  • Preferred plant experience in Steam Crackers, Styrene, Ethylene & Derivatives, Polypropylene, Oxidation, or Synthesis Gas.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% for customer on-site support domestically and internationally.
  • Knowledge of chemical processes/reactors and prior unit operations/tech service experience in the chemical, syngas, petrochemical, or refinery industry preferred but not required.
  • Fluency in English (required) and Spanish (preferred).
  • Technically adept with MS Office and CRM.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a more senior level role will also be considered.
