The Chemical Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in executing process design package development for capital projects, ensuring that all processes are optimized for efficiency and safety. This position involves the development of comprehensive process design packages, which are essential for the successful execution of capital projects. The engineer will also be responsible for conducting Process Hazard Analyses, providing technical support to customers, and offering chemical and process expertise to plant operations. Mentoring new process engineers is a key aspect of this role, as is the creation and maintenance of technical documentation that supports ongoing projects and initiatives. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Chemical Process Engineer will engage in various activities aimed at improving processes and products. This includes providing chemical and process support to different plant areas, interacting with the Minerals Technology Group, and assisting in root cause analysis to identify and resolve process issues. The engineer will monitor and report on lake levels and compositions, participate in the muds team, and facilitate process improvement initiatives. Training and teaching operations staff about new projects and conducting safety hazard reviews are also critical components of this position. The role requires conducting bench and plant testing for materials, additives, and process modifications, as well as performing technical and economic evaluations of alternative processes. The engineer will be tasked with identifying and developing process control mechanisms and developing solutions to various process problems. Additionally, the Chemical Process Engineer will assist plant areas in the development of both short and long-term technical plans and lead process engineering teams that include technology group members and plant process engineers. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the overall goals of the organization.
