About the position

Nanoscale Components, Inc. is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to join our highly skilled Engineering Team. This position is crucial for the design, construction, and deployment of custom electrochemical processing equipment aimed at enhancing the energy density of lithium-ion batteries at a gigawatt-hour (GWh) scale. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in chemical processing equipment design and commissioning, with a particular advantage for those experienced in solvent processing. As a Chemical Process Engineer, you will be responsible for developing innovative solutions that meet the demands of our cutting-edge projects while ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. In this role, you will design, develop, and build both pilot and production chemical processing systems. You will be tasked with creating test protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to validate the scale-up from research and development (R&D) and pilot projects to mass production. Your responsibilities will also include implementing design changes and improvements for existing equipment, integrating the work of consultants and third-party contractors, and developing vendor and consulting contacts to enhance project outcomes. Managing project priorities and cross-project dependencies will be a key aspect of your role, as will controlling project schedules and costs. You will ensure the quality of the integrated systems and drive productivity improvements across the company's processes and systems. Additionally, you will plan installations and operations in collaboration with customers as part of integrated battery facilities. Maintaining comprehensive engineering data, including drawings, P&IDs, system performance data for production, and BOMs in PDM Windchill Software, will also be part of your responsibilities, along with creating manuals to support operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar discipline
  • 5+ Years of experience in industrial equipment and systems design
  • Experience in process scale up (laboratory to plant, process troubleshooting and process optimization)
  • Knowledge of PLC and control systems
  • Experience with process simulation software and design software packages
  • Experience in DFx principles and methodologies
  • cGMP experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills
  • US citizen or permanent resident
