About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer/Principal Engineer role involves providing technical support to customers, leading software training courses, and designing software enhancements. The position requires building long-term relationships with stakeholders and supporting various business functions, particularly in the petrochemical and refinery engineering sectors.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers on software usage and license configuration.
• Lead software training courses for customers and implement enhancements as needed.
• Design, program, and test/debug software enhancements.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with PFR stakeholders.
• Support other business functions, such as Sales, when needed.

Requirements

• B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 10 - 15 years of working experience as a process, chemical, or mechanical engineer in petrochemical and/or refinery engineering functions.
• Knowledge of heat transfer equipment, particularly fired heaters, furnaces, or boilers, and their applicable software.
• Proficiency in Windows-based applications (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with FRNC-5PC and REFORM-3PC software.
• Experience designing, programming, and testing/debugging software products (ideally in Fortran and/or C++).
• Willingness to give software demos and short presentations to support the Sales team.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM applications.
• Familiarity with Fired Heater Engineering standards (e.g. API 560 and 530).
• Familiarity with SimSci Pro/II and Excel Visual Basic.
