About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer serves as the technical leader for manufacturing processes at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, focusing on improving existing processes to enhance customer satisfaction and manufacturing efficiencies. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulations, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and acting as the main point of contact for safety, quality, and process improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and implements improvements to current processes using continuous improvement tools.
  • Ensures that processes comply with all cGMP regulations in regard to process and cleaning validation.
  • Completes exception investigations and implements effective corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintains all process flow diagrams and material balances for their processes.
  • Supports building customer audits.
  • Works with plant safety to maintain process specific safety information.
  • Collaborates with plant environmental to maintain process specific environmental information.
  • Works with plant logistics and planning to simulate scheduling capabilities for complex operating scenarios.
  • Supports Customer or Regulatory agency audits as the subject matter expert for assigned processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S Degree in engineering or a technical related field (i.e. biology, chemistry, etc.)
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of directly related experience in chemical processing engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of chemistry, physics, and engineering principles.
  • Experience with a wide variety of unit operations and both batch and continuous processes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, from operations to senior management, both oral and written format.
  • Knowledge of cGMP and PSM regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
