About the position

The Chemical Process Engineer will provide engineering support for design and technical assessments at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. This role involves developing detailed design packages, conducting feasibility studies, and providing procurement and field technical support. The engineer will work collaboratively within an integrated project team and will be responsible for ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop high quality detailed design packages for chemical processes.
• Provide engineering procurement and field technical support to implement designs.
• Prepare conceptual engineering deliverables including cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates.
• Create statements of work, design criteria, and title II engineering deliverables.
• Conduct calculations and analyses, and prepare construction specifications & drawings.
• Perform equipment sizing and arrangements, and prepare procurement documents.
• Conduct walk-downs in existing plant facilities to generate design documents and provide field support.

Requirements

• Minimum BS Chemical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
• At least 10 years of technical experience in chemical process engineering.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance.
