About The Position

The Technician Trainee position at INEOS Styrolution is designed to monitor and maintain equipment and process performance, making adjustments based on observations and input from the process control operator. The role involves troubleshooting equipment or process problems and requires effective communication with peers. The incumbent is expected to work in a safe, hazard-free, and environmentally sound work area, with a commitment to advancing in their technical skills and knowledge. All technicians are required to adhere to the INEOS Styrolution 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety, as well as the Life-Saving rules and site SHE Policies and Procedures. This includes reporting incidents, participating in investigations, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of college with emphasis in math and science or a Chemical Process Operator Certificate preferred.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge, including familiarity with hand/power tools and valves.

  • Experience in a chemical processing environment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain equipment and process performance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or process problems and communicate effectively with peers.
  • Report all incidents including activations of safety critical alarms/systems or exceedances of operating envelopes.
  • Participate in incident investigations, Management of Change, and Process Hazard Analysis/LOPA as needed.
  • Preserve high standards of housekeeping and organization.
  • Follow the workflow process and assist maintenance personnel when appropriate.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance/shutdown activities and perform routine maintenance.
  • Assist in routine start-up and shutdown of process units.
  • Maintain detailed written records and ensure effective shift turnover.
  • Train, recertify/demonstrate proficiency and knowledge of assigned areas as directed or required.
  • Unload liquid raw material products from tank cars and load liquid byproducts to tank cars and tank trucks.
  • Receive and unload dry van trucks and coordinate with the guard station for safe unloading.
  • Deliver raw materials and supplies to production units and manage scrap boxes and pallets.
  • Weigh trucks in and out for bulk truck shipments of scrap and direct trucks to proper loading areas.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the warehouse and hopper car cleaning areas daily.
