About the position

The Outside Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating plant process equipment in the Plasticizer manufacturing process. This role involves evaluating the unit's operating status, troubleshooting processes and equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The operator plays a crucial role in maintaining product quality and reliability while supporting various manufacturing duties from raw material delivery to product shipment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate plant process equipment used in the Plasticizer manufacturing process.
  • Evaluate the unit's operating status and troubleshoot processes and equipment to maximize reliability and product quality.
  • Document various operating parameters and maintain communication with others inside and outside of the department.
  • Monitor maintenance activities and perform minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Follow all safety and security guidelines according to company policy and comply with environmental regulations.
  • Take readings and utilize plant data/control systems to maintain control of the unit.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to co-workers and work with other functions to improve performance.
  • Participate in process safety improvement activities and training of new employees.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Perform startup, shutdown, isolation, and decontamination of plant equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years of Manufacturing Operator experience or 4 years of active military experience in a technical role.
  • Knowledge of process, laboratory, and mechanical operations.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, RCRA).
  • Knowledge of PLC/DCS systems and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Experience with safe work practices and emergency response.

  • Basic knowledge of window-based programs: MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed teamwork and leadership skills.
