About the position

The Chemist and Chemical Engineer position within the Reactor Plant Chemistry team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory focuses on providing fleet support for reactor plant chemistry and cleanliness issues across the nuclear fleet. This role involves problem-solving, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and developing recommendations to enhance product quality and cost-effectiveness in naval nuclear operations.

Responsibilities

• Solve problems associated with cleanliness control in Naval nuclear reactor plants.
• Perform trials, tests, and/or experiments to support engineering, production, and/or R&D activities.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources such as experiments and studies.
• Develop technically and economically sound recommendations and prepare comprehensive documented observations, analyses, and interpretations of results.
• Establish operating equipment specifications.
• Develop and recommend new processes and technologies to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or
• Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
• SRE qualified.
