About the position

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated chemistry systems engineer to join the Automated Chemistry Equipment unit. This role involves providing direct fleet support for automated online chemistry analysis systems and developing new technologies and methods to enhance fleet chemistry analysis. The engineer will support and develop hardware and software systems essential for effective chemistry analysis in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, engaging in tasks from requirements development to system upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct fleet support for automated online chemistry analysis systems.
• Develop new systems, technologies, and methods for fleet chemistry analysis.
• Engage in hardware and software systems development for effective chemistry analysis.
• Conduct proof of principle testing and system design.
• Integrate equipment into fleet applications and support deployed systems.
• Collaborate with shipyard field engineers, fleet chemistry experts, and cybersecurity experts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or
• Master's degree in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or
• Currently or previously NPE qualified; or
• CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
• Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.
