About the position

The Chemist III at PurposeBuilt Brands is responsible for leading the formulation, testing, and development of cleaning solutions and raw materials for various markets. This role requires a deep understanding of product development, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor junior chemists while overseeing laboratory operations from conception to commercialization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the formulation, testing, and development of cleaning solutions or raw materials.
• Design, execute, and oversee complex experiments, ensuring effective data collection and analysis.
• Evaluate literature and various sources of information for relevance, reliability, and credibility.
• Interpret and analyze data, discerning patterns, trends, and insights.
• Use, maintain, and oversee the use of analytical equipment for data acquisition and interpretation.
• Report technical data and information clearly and concisely.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and safety protocols related to chemical hazards.
• Manage resources effectively to meet project objectives.
• Oversee project lifecycles from initiation to completion.
• Lead teams and individuals throughout projects, coordinating tasks, responsibilities, and communication.
• Guide and support junior chemists, managing laboratory activities from initial product ideas to market launch, and participate in strategic planning efforts.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in chemistry, biology, or chemical engineering.
• 7-10 years' experience, or a M.S. degree with 3-7 years' experience, or a Ph.D. degree with 1-3 years' experience in a lab formulating and testing cleaning solutions or raw materials.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant methodologies and practical experience in creating innovative and effective products.
• Ability to analyze complex issues, develop practical solutions, and implement them efficiently.
• Leadership, mentoring, and strategic planning skills.
