About the position

The Chemist III at PurposeBuilt Brands is responsible for leading the formulation, testing, and development of cleaning solutions for various markets, including Household, Institutional, and Industrial. This role requires a deep understanding of product development principles, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor junior chemists. The Chemist III will oversee laboratory operations from product conception to commercialization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and safety protocols while contributing to strategic planning efforts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the formulation, testing, and development of cleaning solutions or raw materials.
• Design, execute, and oversee complex experiments, ensuring effective data collection and analysis.
• Evaluate literature and various sources of information for relevance, reliability, and credibility.
• Interpret and analyze data, discerning patterns, trends, and insights.
• Use, maintain, and oversee the use of analytical equipment for data acquisition and interpretation.
• Report technical data and information clearly and concisely.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and safety protocols related to chemical hazards.
• Manage resources effectively to meet project objectives.
• Oversee project lifecycles from initiation to completion.
• Lead teams and individuals throughout projects, coordinating tasks, responsibilities, and communication.
• Guide and support junior chemists, managing laboratory activities from initial product ideas to market launch.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in chemistry, biology, or chemical engineering.
• 7-10 years' experience with a B.S. degree, 3-7 years' experience with an M.S. degree, or 1-3 years' experience with a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field.
• Experience working in a lab formulating and testing cleaning solutions or raw materials designed for Household, Institutional, or Industrial markets.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant methodologies and practical experience in creating innovative products.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and develop practical solutions.
