About the position

The Chemist--Polymer position at Sika involves providing technical support to production plants and customers, ensuring product quality, and conducting laboratory processes to meet quality standards. The role requires collaboration with a team on product formulation and development, managing multiple projects, and maintaining laboratory equipment while upholding safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing plants and customers to assure product quality.
  • Manage the approval and qualification processes for raw materials.
  • Cooperate with the team in all activities related to formulation, development of new products, and improvement of existing ones.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analyze data and results and recommend the next steps.
  • Publish project reports and monthly reports of approved projects.
  • Attend technical presentations and meetings from raw material suppliers.
  • Keep accurate records and maintain good laboratory notebook practice.
  • Maintain lab equipment and replace consumables and chemicals.
  • Perform maintenance and calibrations on laboratory instruments/equipment and troubleshoot instruments/methods within management guidance.
  • Evaluate new testing instruments and make recommendations for capital expenditures.
  • Learn and follow lab practices and contribute to ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Uphold safety standards and embody the company's core values.
  • Provide training to new employees and technicians.

Requirements

  • MS degree in Chemistry or Polymer science or similar discipline, ideally with 3+ years of experience.
  • Strong hands-on lab skills and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Familiarity with analytical instruments, including HPLC, FTIR, and wet methods like titration.
  • Good knowledge of organic chemistry.
  • General knowledge of polymer chemistry is a plus.
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of concrete technology is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of data analysis software is a plus.
