About the position

The Chemistry Adjunct Faculty will be responsible for teaching courses in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Chemistry of Forensic Science for the Spring 2025 semester. The faculty member must possess a willingness to teach in person and/or be certified to teach online. Responsibilities include teaching assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabus, maintaining accurate records, and participating in the assessment of learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses in accordance with description published in catalog and the approved course syllabus.
  • Incorporates interactive approaches, technologies, and methods into courses.
  • Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
  • Utilizes library resources, writing as an instructional method, and academic technologies in courses.
  • Meets all scheduled class meetings and advises Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate grade and attendance records for students and submits required reports.
  • Submits grades per published deadline.
  • Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and uses results in course planning.
  • Plans in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment.
  • Submits progress reports on students for counseling and discusses any problems requiring special attention.
  • Adheres to College policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in the discipline required unless otherwise specified.
  • Some teaching experience is required.
  • Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.

Nice-to-haves

  • Teaching experience at the community college level.
