About the position

The Chemistry Assistant Professor at Los Rios Community College District is responsible for teaching a variety of chemistry courses, supporting student learning, and contributing to curriculum development. Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned chemistry classes under the supervision of the area dean.
  • Help students master course content and fulfill their maximum potential.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and maintain up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
  • Engage in professional development and utilize current technology in teaching.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position.
  • Assist with curriculum development and review.
  • Serve on college committees and participate in faculty governance.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the area dean.

Requirements

  • Master's in chemistry or Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry AND Master's in a related field (biochemistry, chemical engineering, etc.) from an accredited institution by August 21, 2024.
  • Equity-minded focus and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students.
  • Ability to foster and support an inclusive educational environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with chemical instrumentation and laboratory teaching.
  • Familiarity with peer-assisted learning programs.
