About the position

As a Chemical Engineer or Chemistry Co-op at Chemours, you will be part of the Pigment Technology team, working in a state-of-the-art research facility. This position is designed for students who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting, gaining hands-on experience through various projects. You will collaborate closely with experienced R&D professionals on process and pigment technology developmental projects, contributing to innovative solutions that harness the power of chemistry to improve lives and redefine industries. Your role will involve participating in process safety management activities and reviews, contributing to team meetings and conference calls, and supporting multiple projects through data analysis. You will also be responsible for developing data analysis tools and maintaining data recordkeeping and organization in accordance with Chemours policies for the protection of intellectual property. The lab work will include the design, operation, and optimization of lab-scale unit operations such as reactors, crystallizers, distillation columns, filtration systems, rotary kiln dryers, and mixers. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in real-time lab work alongside other engineers and chemists, allowing you to apply what you've learned in the classroom to real-world challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Work with experienced R&D professionals on process and pigment technology developmental projects.
  • Participate in process safety management activities and reviews.
  • Contribute to team meetings and conference calls.
  • Support multiple projects with data analysis.
  • Develop data analysis tools.
  • Maintain data recordkeeping and organization consistent with Chemours policies for protection of intellectual property.
  • Conduct lab work including design, operation, and optimization of lab-scale unit operations such as reactors, crystallizers, distillation columns, filtration, rotary kiln dryers, and mixers.

Requirements

  • Enrollment at an accredited college or university as a Sophomore or above at time of assignment.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or similar fields.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Participation in relevant activities, organizations, and projects beyond the classroom.
  • 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Previous experience (industrial or academic projects) with chemical processes such as reaction engineering, thermodynamics, titration, and distillation.
  • Minor in data science.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages such as Matlab, Python, and Visual Basic.
