About the position
The Chemistry Lab Apprentice position at Chemours is a part-time role designed for high school students enrolled in a Chemistry Lab Technology program. This apprenticeship offers specialized on-the-job training under the guidance of experienced colleagues, focusing on basic chemistry laboratory work and adherence to safety protocols. The role aims to provide practical experience in a professional lab environment while contributing to environmental report preparation and laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in environmental report preparation and submittals including air permits and wastewater discharge monitoring.
- Work closely with laboratory personnel and pilot plant operators to manage air registrations and permit recordkeeping requirements.
- Follow written standard operating procedures.
- Collect, organize, and record necessary experimental data.
Requirements
- Enrollment at New Castle County Vo-Tech School District at the time of assignment.
- High school student enrolled in Chemistry Lab Technology program.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work well and receive feedback from others.
- Ability to comprehend and follow safety policy in laboratory environments.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and interpret facts and ideas in writing.
Nice-to-haves
- 3.0 GPA or above.
- Knowledge of computer-based systems necessary for lab operation, including MS Office tools.
- Knowledge of operation on common lab instruments and equipment.
- Specific knowledge of, and experience with, general chemistry techniques and good laboratory practices.
