Chemistry Technician

About the position

Kodak Specialty Chemicals Inks and Dispersions is seeking a Chemistry Technician to support chemical laboratory tests for internal businesses and custom manufacturing. The role involves conducting chemical experiments, operating laboratory equipment, and analyzing samples, with a focus on synthetic chemistry and collaboration with manufacturing and business development teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up and conduct chemical laboratory processes in support of chemical development and solvent recovery operations.
• Practice safe chemical handling and operation of bench scale reactors, scale-up equipment and distillation columns.
• Maintain and repair lab equipment, practice good housekeeping within the laboratory.
• Keep accurate records and data for projects.
• Participate in and complete company-required safety and training programs.
• Utilize strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Meet demanding project timelines and productivity pressures.
• Organize workload in a manner that maximizes work efficiency without sacrificing quality.
• Work individually and on teams.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Chemical Technology plus 5 years industrial research experience in a chemical process development laboratory setting or 10 years industrial research experience in a chemical process development laboratory setting.
• Proficient with regards to organizing, recording and summarizing data.
• Must have a strong level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing concepts.
• Knowledge of statistical process control.
• Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE).
• Familiarity with Mettler Toledo model Lab Max equipment is a plus.

• Competitive salary range of $27.50 - $29.50 per hour.
