About the position

The Chess Instructor position at Summit School of Chess involves teaching chess to K-8 students in a classroom setting. This part-time role allows instructors to create a fun and safe learning environment while building their own clientele. Instructors will be responsible for supervising students and ensuring a balance of fun and learning during classes.

Responsibilities

• Teach chess to K-8 students in a classroom setting.

• Manage classroom dynamics to maintain control while promoting learning.
• Build and maintain a clientele of students.

Requirements

• Consistently show up on time for work.
• Display a good balance of fun, learning, and control over the classroom.
• Pass a background check.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Know the rules of chess.
• Experience working with children.
• Available between 2pm to 5pm on weekdays.

Nice-to-haves

• Two year Associates Degree or greater.
• Experience teaching/supervising/working with children in a classroom or other structured environment.
• USCF or FIDE chess ratings.
