About the position
The Chess Instructor position at Summit School of Chess involves teaching chess to K-8 students in a classroom setting. This part-time role allows instructors to create a fun and safe learning environment while building their own clientele. Instructors are expected to engage students in learning chess and ensure their well-being during classes.
Responsibilities
- Teach chess to K-8 students in a classroom setting.
- Supervise and ensure the well-being of children during classes.
- Create a fun and safe learning environment for students.
- Manage classroom dynamics to balance fun and learning.
Requirements
- Consistently show up on time for work.
- Display a good balance of fun, learning, and control over the classroom.
- Pass a background check.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Know the rules of chess.
- Experience working with children.
- Available between 2pm to 5pm on weekdays.
Nice-to-haves
- Two year Associates Degree or greater.
- Experience teaching/supervising/working with children in a classroom or other structured environment.
- USCF or FIDE chess ratings.
