About the position
The Chess Instructor position at Strategic Kids, LLC involves teaching elementary and middle school students how to play chess in an engaging and supportive environment. Instructors will utilize a story-based curriculum to make lessons exciting and tailored to the students' skill levels. The role emphasizes the development of life skills such as sportsmanship, patience, and strategic thinking through chess, culminating in a fun tournament for students.
Responsibilities
- Teach chess to elementary and middle school students after school.
- Utilize a story-based curriculum to engage students in learning chess.
- Provide a 30-minute lesson followed by 30 minutes of chess playing time.
- Encourage the development of life skills through chess.
- Organize and oversee a fun tournament at the end of each course.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- Must know how to play chess and understand its fundamentals.
- Enjoy working with children and have experience assisting them.
- Speak English fluently.
- Have a reliable car to drive to assigned schools.
- Live within 15 miles of assigned schools.
- Pass Live Scan Fingerprints (paid for by Strategic Kids).
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in classroom management.
